HIDDEN GEMS AND LOCAL FAVOURITES

While Edinburgh is famous for its grand landmarks, the city is also home to numerous hidden gems that offer a more intimate glimpse into local life.

Dean Village, a tranquil oasis just a short walk from the city centre, is one such spot. This picturesque village, with its charming cobblestone streets and historic buildings, feels like stepping back in time. Stroll along the Water of Leith and discover a side of Edinburgh that many tourists miss.

Another lesser-known attraction is the Surgeons' Hall Museums, which offer a fascinating look into the history of surgery and medicine. The museums feature an extensive collection of medical artifacts, including anatomical specimens and surgical instruments, providing insight into the evolution of medical science.

For those interested in literature, a visit to the Writers' Museum is a must. Tucked away on Lady Stair's Close, this museum celebrates the lives and works of Scotland’s most famous writers, including Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson. The exhibits offer a glimpse into the personal lives and inspirations of these literary giants.
